I write to you today with an important announcement: After much consideration, we’ve decided to discontinue individual Short Answer Premium licenses. Starting June 15th, 2026, individual premium licenses will no longer be available for purchase.
What this means for your current premium subscription
Monthly Subscriptions
Monthly subscriptions will be canceled and fully refunded for any remaining time after June 15th, 2026.
Yearly Subscriptions
Existing yearly licenses will be honored and will remain active until their scheduled expiration date. Individual yearly subscriptions will no longer be available for new purchase or renewal.
Pending Quotes
Any outstanding quotes we have sent for individual licenses will be honored.
What this means for your current premium subscription
To assist during this transition, we are offering the following special promotions:
School Discounts: We are providing exclusive discount pricing (50% off) for schools that already have teachers using active individual premium licenses. Please reach out for more info.
Extended Access: If you are actively working to secure a school license, we will extend your premium access through Nov 1st, 2026. We want to be flexible here. Whether you need more time to show impact or want to invite an administrator to observe Short Answer in action, just let us know, and we’ll extend your access.
Advocacy Support: We’re here to help you advocate for funding. We’re happy to compile usage and growth data at your school. We’re also happy to work with you to identify local funding sources. Our funding support page has more information, including pre-written, first-pass grant application responses to expedite grant funding.
We’ve made the difficult decision to sunset individual licenses for many reasons. The most important of these is to ensure our small team can fully support the high-quality, school-wide integration necessary for meaningful student impact. Short Answer currently consists of two part-time contractors, my wife and co-founder Alexa, and me. This small structure ensures we can maintain a focus on impact, but as Short Answer has scaled to support over 100,000 teachers and students, it has also meant our bandwidth has been stretched to its limits. This shift in pricing allows our small team to continue our focus on high-quality learning design and implementation that delivers real learning improvements.
